OK, finally got this done at a place not far from just behind Times Square, as suggested by Mark at Saluki.  Great bunch of Philippino lads, very professional, did the upholstery repair on my Prado seat while I went off for an extended lunch.

They also do a lot of classic car restorations and have quite reasonably priced, but top quality paint abilities.

AutoArt www.autoart.ae also avaialble on a Petrolheads Google Map somewhere close to you!!

Hi,

does anyone know a good shop which does leather seat dying / painting in Dubai? I wouldn't want to go for new upholstery as I'd like to keep the original leather in the car.

Does any of the shops mentioned earlier in this thread do this?

Thanks again for the help!

edit: at least AutoArt is not offering leather seat dying / painting.

Appears to be a bit of a monologue with myself :)

Found one place in DXB which offers what I need. Price appears to be a bit steep though: 4.5k dhs to 6+k dhs for front / back seats plus door cards.

DIY kit from furniture clinic http://furnitureclinic.co.uk/Leather_Colourant_Kit.php (not affiliated in any way, form or shape) costs 105 pounds plus postage...so I'm tempted to go for DIY route unless I find another place with more reasonable pricing...

Not sure what car you have, but I bough a pair of landcruiser leather buckets for 1800 dirhams in mussaffah. Almost brand new.

If you want to spend that kind of money, give it to me so I can replace my stolen bike!  ???

This would be for an old 911 Porsche with 'Sonderwunsch' front seats so I doubt I can find replacements anywhere, and other than original seats are not even considered. Leather in itself is not ripped or so, but the leather is a bit faded and hence I'm keen on exploring the dye route.

The place I was referring earlier is http://www.colorglo.ae

And no - I am not implying I would be willing to spend 4.5-6+k dhs when the DIY kit costs 105 pounds plus postage. There are quite a few folks who have been using furniture clinic DIY kits with good results (not in DXB though AFAIK).

I'll keep on looking for a more reasonable priced shop for a while, and if I don't find one then I guess DIY is the only option to go.

Hints & tips on such shop gladly accepted :)

Yes it can be like that, but then you may be doing something nobody (on the forum) has done before.  The traditional route here is just to re-cover the seats with new leather.  Touch up kits, well I tried one about 15 years ago on a bimmer and it was crap, but different kits will give different results.

I think Auto Art said something about 2000aed to recover seats in Leather the last time I talked to them.  Best go knock on doors yourself and then tell us how you got on, god knows that's what I seem to end up having to do most of the time.  Hence the Google map.

StuartA got a home repaint kit for his Jensen rebuild.
Lots of elbow grease needed to clean, condition, paint, buff, condition.
Not sure how it worked in the end but drop him a PM.

my friend just got his 964 back from a refresh. amongst the work done was an interior out repair / reconnolising. his seats and door cards were pretty awful and he his more than pleased with the results. all the work was done at platinum motors in jebel ali. i'll ask him for some pics and prices / contact details.

Actually I used Auto Art to fix the drivers seat of my RS6 (dropped the car in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon. Good service I must say) and I paid 600 AED just to repair one side of the seat.

I asked them about how much it would cost to recover seats in leather and I mentioned petrolheads forum and 2k to recover seats in leather- reply was that 2k is not for re-upholstering the interior but that might have been quoted for covers (i.e. original is still underneath).
