Newbie - First Post

Hello All!
Quick bit about myself before I get onto a couple of questions that I have.
I'm Matt, originally from the UK but have recently moved to Dubai.

The car - (I'll attach some pics)
 2007 Cayman S (Gulf Spec)
 Basalt Black
 Terracotta Interior
 Manual Gearbox
Bose Nav (PCM 2.1 I think??)
 Sports Chrono Pack
 Carrera Classic Alloys
 41k Miles
So just a couple of questions if I may

PCM 2.1 - I want to add bluetooth and iPod functionality. I know there are systems out there that utilize the CD Changer port. Is this the best way, or would money be best spent in changing the head unit? I dont want to stray too far from the original look, but perhaps a newer system will be the best way forward?

AirCon controls - Nearly every Cayman S I saw in Dubai had really bad fading on the two aircon controls. I presume its with the heat, but as a result the normal black controllers look like its had some tip-ex spilt on them. Are these replacements cheap, and where can I get them from?

Where do you all recommend for car tyres and general servicing?  My tyres could do with being replaced, but not sure where to go being so new to Dubai.

Other than that, I am loving the car and i'm pretty pleased with my choice!

Firstly welcome to the "nut house   (C) Northern Ferret"   :hiya:

Other pork lovers here will comment on the servicing.

However, a top tip for anybody in Dubai, and could be a good option for your controls is get a SHOP AND SHIP account.

Hey 1919 and as mentioned earlier...Welcome to the 'Nuthouse'  :deal: TM :fing34:

In regards to your questions, not sure on the servicing but for your tire needs, look at the link at the bottom of this page, MSW are the ones to contact, speak to the knowledgeable Sunil in the showroom or Jon (owner of said establishment) In my honest opinion they are the best for wheels & tires and all things chassis connected.... :fing34:

Other than that, I am sure there will be plenty of people tell you the best options for servicing & repairs on your German marque  :)

Happy hunting and happy sailing on our happy ship of knowledge  ;D

take the Hatta route then straight into Muscat, make sure your car is insured for Oman, the Chedi is a great hotel although a little pricey, if you want a cheaper hotel stay in the Ibis and us my corporate account (Koller) its 37 OMR inc Breakfast.  I hope you have joy with Jon as he is one of the most caring friendly people in Dubai, he will do anything for you great to talk to and will always give you his time and THOUGHTS  :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :fing34: :fing34: :angryfire:
As for the Ferret and Richard don't listen to them as its all  dribble.  Richard is a guy who is always on the scrounge for tools etc as he has nothing and the ferret is just a twatt.

Hi Spencer,

Many thanks for the advice with this, really appreciate it.

Just had a quote back from MSW for replacement tyres, which is already better than a previous quote.

Do members get any further discount from MSW?

Cheers

Hey 1919, I'm not sure which tyres you are looking at but I can really recommend the Michelin Super Sports and also MSW. To answer almost any question you have about the Cayman check out planet-9.com.

Hi Felix, thanks for that.

I have Pirelli P Zero's on at the moment, but they are past their best.  I'm definately going to try the Michelin's out for a change.  I've been over to Planet 9 and alot of them recommend the Michelin's also.

Have a good weekend all.
