quick qn. re: autodrome trackdays
« on: January 25, 2012, 09:28:00 AM »

i'm going to my first one tomorrow night, which will also be the first time i'll be driving my [ex bigmac] clubman. can't wait!

website says it starts at 5:30 pm, but was just wondering if this is the start of the drivers briefing or just general gates open/assembly time? i need to ensure i can leave work with enough time to go get the car and be at the track in good time for the briefing.

cheers.

Phil,

You would be best ringing the Autodrome to confirm the timings.

cheers philby. i was ringing the autodrome but couldn't get through.

john, you're more than welcome to come watch my alternative take on racing lines! took the car up this morning as it dawned on me that JAFZA security would be a nightmare to deal with on the way out given i have no papers for the car. chap at work had his hire car crashed into by a lorry the other day and security held up the recovery lorry for an hour until hertz arrived with the appropriate docs!

had a great time. big thanks for coming down at the start john, much appreciated  [john had the car off the trailer and warmed up prior to my arrival at the track].

i only spun once, 3rd lap changing down mid corner. spencer took me out to show me the lines and as a result i was much quicker on the 3rd session - using the top end of 4th instead of 3rd coming into club link and turn 16.

only problem now is that its aaaages til the next one! :)

Well done Phil you will now be able to get on the bigger circuits at the Autodrome which are really good fun. Good that Spencer was able to help as well nothing like having an experienced driver like that showing you the way.

According to DA, you must have done a min of two track days (Club Circuit) before you can go on the bigger circuit configurations   :deal:, however, they rarely check  :duel:

I was supposed to be there, but have to pay a little trip over the border

assuming i can get the car there, i will be there. my new super beefy tow bar isn't ready yet but there's a good chance my half way house solution will be.

if not, i'll still be there for some pax laps with spencer in the mighty mini, so will keep an eye out for you nifty.

Yes, I am going to test Rhonda as she is costing me a fortune in frustration and bucks due to reliability issues recently which is a shame considering it is actually driving really well. So we are planning a long test session to ensure the glitches are now rectified...

See you all there.  ;D
