Introduction

Petrolheads Dubai is an online community aimed at anyone in the expat community in Dubai who is interested in Cars, Bikes, Quads or anything powered by fossil fuels. It is run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. As this forum open to all to view everything we post can be seen by anyone, which means we have a duty of care that the content of the forums are legal and of a good and decent nature.

Whilst it is very rare for anyone to break the rules, it does happen, so we have a team of moderators to ensure everyone obeys the rules.

Any registered user who consistently breaks these rules will be deleted ? we may decide to ban you from using these forums ? the administrator?s decision is final.

What are Moderators?

Our team is here to monitor and (where necessary) edit / move / delete posts in order to protect the short and long term good of the community. They are active members of the community, but also give up huge amounts of their own time (free of charge) to support you.

If your post is moved, edited, locked, deleted, etc please do not argue with the moderation team, they will only act if you do not follow forum rules.

When will my thread be edited/deleted?

*Pornography, links to Pornography or links to other inappropriate sites.

*Swearing: Whilst the censored versions of swearing (eg s**t, etc) are usually considered OK, offensive / overuse of this may offend and may be moderated. In addition to this, any deliberate circumvention of the swear word filters is prohibited. Common sense prevails. Eg, the use of images which have swear words in them are not acceptable.

*Deliberate aggravation of another forum user.

*Any sort of trade sales, not approved by the Forum Administrator

*Any form of personal abuse, racism, sexism or ageism etc.

*Anything invasive of a person's privacy ? disclosing personal information etc.

*Anything that is deemed by Petrolheads as potentially libellous.

*Sensitive content that cannot be moved, locked edited.

*Remove any copyright-infringing material.

Petrolheads reserves the right to remove, or edit any thread for any reason ? the administrator?s decision is final.


When will a thread be locked?

*If there are persistent abuses of the behaviour mentioned above.

*Unacceptable behaviour.

*Completely off-topic discussion.

*No part of the topic/message is salvageable by editing.

When will a thread be moved?

*When the thread clearly belong in another forum.

*When the topic moves onto a subject more appropriate to another forum.

What is "potentially libellous"?
Libel is a very complicated part of the law. The general concept is that anything that cannot be proved by hard fact, which could be considered, damaging to a company or individual, may be libellous.

Due to legal complications that Petrolheads could be considered liable for libellous comments posted by users, we have to show a continued and consistent practice of due-diligence, which protects us against potential legal action.

This means deleting / editing posts containing this kind of material and taking every action reasonably possible to stop it being posted in the first place. For this reason, ANY potentially libellous content may be deleted immediately without warning or explanation.

I have found a "potentially libellous" or offensive etc post, what should I do?

Please contact the site administrator or a moderator immediately, with a link, and it will be dealt with accordingly.

Commercial posts

Commercial Posts may be locked or removed if posted in any forum. A commercial post is defined as any post by employees or their associates that benefits either, directly or indirectly the company involved. This includes any company press releases, statements or advertising of practices of any kind.

Classified adverts

Petrolheads accepts no responsibility for any transaction resulting in an advertisement placed in this forum.

All sales are a private transaction between the private seller and the purchaser; any complaints must be resolved privately, i.e. NOT on these forums.

The onus is on the seller to describe the goods accurately; Petrolheads will NOT get involved if the goods are not as described, faulty or otherwise unsatisfactory. No trade sales posts are allowed anywhere on this site.
