Looking for enduro riders
« on: October 06, 2009, 07:38:19 PM »

The other forum seems to be low on enduro riders (or theyre hiding from me), any 600+ cc riders lurking on this forum who have any rideouts planned for this Friday 9-10-09

Taking delivery of an enduro later this week. I need a month or so to get it broken in, then I'd like to join in on a ride.

Not too many trailies posting on this site, perhaps we need a seperate forum within Petrolheads?

If you think you need a separate place, then will be happy to create one, if there is some demand

What's it like to ride Enduro in the UAE? Is it relatively safe and does the heat/desert combination makes it a good experience?
Moving there (Abu Dhabi) in a few weeks and would love to join a group of enthusiasts to ride but not on concrete...boring!...
thanks for tips.

JM,
Are you talking off road riding ?
There are plenty of places to go here, quite a big community of us in Dubai, not too sure about Abu Dhabi.
Heat/desert not a problem if you are prepared.
Cheers,
Steve.

Maybe we should think about one which involves photography ! I think we have enough photographers contributing on this forum.

Oryan

I'm still breaking my machine in - only got 600 kms on it and need a few more before I can cruise above 120 km/hr to get anywhere decent to ride.

I was out in the truck yesterday in the Hatta area, the Wadis were drying out and down to a trickle, with only shallow fords needed. Some ugly looking erosion is going to cause problems to some shoulders. I came across three Arabian Adventures trucks down in a Wadi, tucked in along the south eastern edge. They were trying to stay out of sight, stay in the shade and give their customers an experience akin to 'special' and with a sense of isolation. What they couldn't or didn't see was about 2.5 to 3 feet of overhang above them where the Wadi had eroded. It's due to fall soon - especially when an unsuspecting motorist pulls over on to the shoulder right above them!

Hope to catch up - probably well in to Feb or so at the rate I'm getting out on the machine...

Cheers

Well if there is going to be people out there who ride their battleships like my GS1200 offroad, I am always ready to join.

There's a group of us ride big duallies - I'm on a Varadero, two guys on BMW GS1200 and one on a V-Strom.  We ride out whenever we can all get the time together and have had some good weekends away in Oman. :)
