« on: September 09, 2011, 10:07:55 AM »

The start of the 2011/2012 UAE national racing season is fast approaching and Dubai Autodrome is bracing for a busy motorsport .

The first race of the new season gets underway on Friday, 23 September with the round one of the DAMC Karting Championship at the Kartdrome where the country’s top karters will be in action in a variety of classes, including: Cadets, Max Juniors and Max Seniors while top leisure karters will be competing in the SWS Master Cup or the SWS Star Cup on the same evening.

On the weekend of 7/8 October there will be a double header with the first DAMC National Race Day on the main circuit featuring races for Total UAE Touring Cars, UAE Sportbikes, Radical Cup and the inaugural FG1000 series.

Meanwhile on Friday (7 October) across the boulevard, at the Kartdrome, will be the Motorcity 24 Hours, round 3 of the 2011 Motorcity Endurance Challenge starting in the afternoon ensuring an action packed weekend.

The DAMC (Dubai Autodrome Motorsport Club) will, as in the past year, run three UAE National Race Days at Yas Marina Circuit during the course of the season.

Or 3 if you include the CSS at Yas.

Talking of YAS, and seeing how bikes still can't race there yet, I count only six rounds for the bikes............

Unless they have forgotten to include 25th November?

Edited to add; Looks like an oversight, the Facebook page for the Autodrome today includes 25th Nov. As you were chaps

and also you can include the suzuki cup and if you like the class 1 seat cup -  this is what they call in Arabic MAKHLOUTA  ( dish made  of various  kind of beans mixed in one pot)  -  better to keep it one championship with various classes

Yousif, you forgot the Astra's, BMW's, golf's, ford's...... Also clio's can score points in class 2. Seat's dont have their own grid... So I dont understand your comment above.

my point is if there is serious intention for a clio cup it should try as much the suzuki tried to do started by being part of the uae tcc then by having thier own grid  - last season we had five clios on the grid and it was not a cup - if you are going to have 6 or 7 better to keep it under UAETCC not call it clio cup  as you are still going to finish behing the class 1 and hondas class two. it is different if you start on p1 and fininsh first then starting on p8-9-10... and finish the same but mention clio cup winner - does not help in sponsorship proposals etc... you know well most people do not understand details of motrsport  /classes so it is much better to have a  seperate race ( for  competition intensity  -videos  - pics etc ) the suzuki cup  was on the right track ( if it was managed in  a better way) i would have loved to compete with you guys but i will only be at the stands watching  this season

You are correct but I guess since there are not many cars yet we cannot have a separate grid only for clios yet. (not mention time wise all in one day). Also a lot of people might say they want to do it but until you see them there actually racing you cannot make any plans unless they have already signed a contract or something. So let us see how is it going to be this year and then we will see. For me since I have the car I dont mind either I race and score points for both or if I am gonna be clio cup competitor... All I want is to race and have fun like I was doing last year with Oliver especially on the last race on the Autodrome where we were swaping positions twice per lap.....  ;)
As for the sponsors... It all depends on how you do your proposal and management.  ;)

i suggest you put the clio + suzuki in one grid - you will have enough cars and it makes more sense from a racing perspective. You would have the clio  / suzuki cup and the standard UAETCC  P1 always taste better  :gun:

If they start separating grids then in the end there will be very small numbers in the grid of each race.
There is no harm in having them all in one grid as is now. See at europe when they have one big grid and they have 3-4 classes.  ;)
Each class has a champion at the end. And they dont have overall points between classes. But here motorsport fans that understand are very few and they think that they are watching F1 with 1 grid and 1 winner.  :smokin:

So you want to have a race for what 5 Seats, 1 or 2 Golfs, 1 Astra and 5 Honda's and another for 5 Clio's and 7 Suzuki's. Err not thanks. Much better to have all race at the same time as you get a grid full of cars which is much more enjoyable for those who come to watch.

Another race series also cuts down on the track time available and reduces the number of races in each championship.

So how should the Suzuki's have been managed last year. Robert and his team put a huge effort into the series.

So lets stay as we are shall we.
