The Event Ended Successfully

Even though the turnout was few with only 20 participant, but the performance and the track layout showed off the skills of the drifters breliantly.
This is to the witness of our guest and chief judge Graham McNamara, CEO of ProDrift ( http://www.prodriftseries.com/ ) visiting us from Ireland.

Also we were delighted with the participation of our Guest drifters from KSA and Bahrain.

The Result:

Our local hero Ahmed Alaamri won the 1st place with his high skills level of skid control in his Beautifull Toyota Soarer,
2nd place was awarded to Abdul Aziz Alyaeesh our guest drifter from KSA in his BMW M6, he presented a good show in high speed drift and car control
3rd place winner was AbdulHadi Alqahtani from KSA in his Ford Mustang, after a tough and repetitive battles between him and the Jordanian Drifter Ahmad Daham in this RWD Subaru Impreza, whom settled at the end in the 4th place.

the spectators enjoyed the action and the side shows during the event.

next round will be held on 23rd March At Yas Marina Curcuit (tbc)
your presence and participation will greatly joy us

Question for the drift specialists on Petrolheads: why the wing?  Just for show?

Ah, the automotive equivalent of stuffing a pair of socks down your pants.

In seriousness, I have the utmost respect for drifters.  Must give it a go one of these days.

UAE's first legit drift competition - it may not be F1 but this has GOT to be one of the best things to happen in Motorsports here this year. Not because it's huge on a global scale or anything, but because it happened at all!

Consider that this sport didn't exist at all here even a year ago. Sure everybody's been aware of drifting for some time but nobody here had actually done it. These guys literally started out as a bunch of determined and talented beginners and/or ex-auto crossers doing clumsy donuts and handbrake turns around a bunch of cones in one of the Yas parking lots.

The competitors and organizers have worked their butts off practicing and setting this up - it's been a HUGE leap from one year ago to being able to find 20 or so guys with the skills to cleanly string together respectable drift runs on a proper circuit in a proper competition setting.

Huge congrats to the competitors and organizers for achieving their goal of establishng respectable & fun home grown competitive drifting here in the UAE and huge props to Yas, Top Perormance, C&P etc. for their support and for giving these guys a chance to prove themselves.

It's great fun to watch and it's probably one of the most accessible forms of motoraports around if anyone fancies a go. ;)
